Pay It Forward...
From Kori's Blog...Here's how it goes:The first five people to respond to this post will get something made by me! My choice--for you! This offer does have some restrictions and limitations:
1. I make NO guarantees that you will LIKE what I make! (I can only hope)
2. What I create will be just for you.
3. It WILL be done this year.
4. You have no CLUE what it’s going to be … it may be cards, a bookmark, something delicious or a complete surprise to you (and me!) … who knows?
5. Most importantly, you MUST offer the same deal on your blog - the first 5 people to comment on your blog get something made by YOU!

Change, Truth and Joy
Now that our youngest is serving a full time mission in New York, Dave and I feel we have truly come full circle - after 29 years of marriage we are alone again, just the two of us - officially 'Empty Nester's'. Having pondered the title of this elite organization I find it quite ironic that although our nest is empty, the blessings we enjoy at this stage of life are over flowing.
Our family now numbers eleven and although we don't all live under one roof I still find great JOY in motherhood. I think as my family grows so does my ability to love. I have found that to be true as we have welcomed two sons-in-law and four grandchildren into our family over the past few years.
Watching my two daughters find happiness as wives and mothers has been so rewarding. Truly in word and deed they have each expressed their great joy in motherhood - a JOY greater than anything else they have ever experienced. The bond between mothers and daughters becomes even greater as they share the common role of mother and the joys associated with it.
Once you become a grandmother you cannot speak about family without mentioning the JOY of grandchildren. Somehow being removed from the responsibility of raising these sweet little ones allows you more freedom to enjoy them. I love every opportunity I get to kiss their baby fat, listen to their classic comments, and savor their innocence. They have a tremendous ability to love and be loved - they are addicting!
Having a missionary in our family has been such an amazing experience. The spirit of missionary work richly blesses our home as KC serves in New York. I look forward to reading his letters each week and hearing about all that he is learning. It is such a JOY to watch his testimony grow. He motivates me to be better and increase my offering.
The more I come to understand about the gospel, the more I appreciate my temple covenants. Having the freedom the serve in the temple with my sweetheart is truly the highlight of my week. What a JOY!
We recently made a move to a distant land called Vernal and left behind family and familiarity for new employment, a new home and a new community. We have quite a history and close ties to many dear people in Davis County and yet I don't think our lives would be complete without the experience and friendships we are creating here and now. There is wisdom and purpose in everything.
Change is eminent - that is a truth. But, amidst the change stands a loving Savior - the one constant in our lives, and with Him there is a fullness of JOY to be found in all stages and places in life--even an 'empty nest'.

High School Tag
School: Woods Cross High
1. Did you date someone from your high school? Yes, Dave and I were high school sweethearts.
2. What kind of car did you drive? My Dad's maroon 1974 Ford Torino - I never could figure out the stick in his Ford truck. Actually, I spent more time with Dave in his little brown Toyota Celica.
3. What was your most embarrassing moment in high school? Right after I got my license I was pulling into the gas station and I hit the gas pump. I will always be grateful to my Dad for not getting angry over that one!!
4. Were you a party animal? No, I used to hang with a pretty clean crowd, except for Dave. He was the party animal.
5. Were you considered a flirt? That would probably depend on who you ask...
6. Were you in band, orchestra, or choir? No - I was involved in Student Government and performed with the drill team.
7. Were you a nerd? I don't think so...
8. Were you on any varsity teams? No
9. Did you get suspended/expelled? No
10. Can you still sing the fight song? Yeah! Go Wildcats!!
11. Who were your favorite teachers? Bonnie Hobbs - speech and drama, Wayne Cable - student government and sociology, Ila Hodgson - now there was an interesting specimen...
12. Where did you sit during lunch? In the cafeteria or the main hall, or on Dave's lap.
13. School Mascot? Wally the Wildcat- the drill team was called the 'Chatelles' (a female cat) nobody ever announced it correctly at performances. Everybody said 'shitelles'.
14. Did you go to homecoming and with who? I had a different date for the dance each year. Of course my favorite homecoming date was Dave, during my Senior year. He had this stupid tradition about asking a girl to a dance two weeks prior - not a day sooner. Another cute guy planned to ask me to the dance at the school football game. Dave and I had been dating, so I was anticipating an invitation to the dance from him. Consequently, I was in a pretty awkward position when this guys mom called to make sure that I would be attending the football game later that night so that her son could extend an invitation to the dance. I managed to politely decline and of course Dave finally asked me to the dance and of course we had a great time. I remember wearing a Gunnie Sax dress (very popular brand back then) and a beautiful orchid corsage.
15. If you could go back and do it again, would you? As Dave would say - HELL NO!
16. What do you remember most about graduation? We didn't have an auditorium so graduation was held in the high school gym. I forgot to take bobby pins so my cap kept falling off my head. High school was great but I was very ready to move on.
17. Where did you go senior skip day? I went to a condo with some girl friends. We layed out in the sun and I got sunburned pretty bad.
18. Have you gained weight since then? Unfortunately, yes. I have nothing more to say on this depressing topic.
19. Who was your prom date? My Junior Prom date was Dave - the dance was traditionally held in the State Capital Rotunda.. We ate dinner at the Dela Fontana restaurant in Salt Lake City. They served a seven course meal that was wonderful. Unfortunately, the restaurant no longer exists.
20. Are you planning on going to your 10 year reunion? Been there, done that!
21. Looking back, what advice would you give yourself? Work hard to get good grades, stay close the spirit and be obedient. Dave says keep your pants on!!
Thanks Kori, this was fun. Now I tag Janet and Karla.
